Program Highlights

The 2010 Florida Medical Device Symposium is Florida’s premier event for medical device manufacturing companies.  Presentations feature nationally recognized speakers, industry panel discussions on regulatory issues, legislative updates and networking opportunities. 

The first day begins at 1 p.m. with a keynote address discussing FDA enforcement.  Followed by  two additional sessions and a networking reception within the industry exhibit hall.  Sessions on the second day will include topics such as risk management, vendor audits, outsourcing, the Department of Health and a national industry update provided by Mark Leahey, Executive Director of Medical Device Manufacturers Association (MDMA).   A continental breakfast and lunch are included in the second day in the exhibit area.

Thomas Novelli is Director of Federal Affairs for the Medical Device Manufacturers Association (MDMA), a national trade association in Washington, DC that represents nearly 200 research-driven medical technology companies. Thomas joined MDMA after working on the Committee on Finance for former Chairman and current Ranking Member, Senator Charles Grassley, for nearly four years. Thomas will present an extensive update of the expectations of the United States Congress as well as the national issues facing our industry.  

Paul D. Evers
Staff Engineer – Medical Business Unit
Underwriters Laboratories Inc

Paul D. Evers is a Staff Engineer for the Health Sciences Business Unit. He has worked for UL for a total of 20 years and served in many different positions at the company. Paul presently works in the Health Sciences Business Unit performing product evaluations, reviewing the work of other project handlers, and teaching courses at private and public seminars. Paul will be discussing Risk Management during the second day of the program.

  Global Growth and Change Management Executive
  Jabil, Inc.

Gaet Tyranski is a global growth and change management  P&L executive for Jabil, Inc.  He was appointed to this position in early 2008 and is charged with leading the company’s entrance into the medical single-use device sector. He is responsible for setting strategy, establishing a global footprint for the business and ensuring that Jabil meets the highest medical standards.
